A Romantic Landscape
Our collective memory of places builds meaning and as entertainment and commerce have taken center stage in contemporary culture and architecture, our wish was to offer Seoul with a more durable and meaningful presence.
Transitionning between earth and water is an act of great symbolism, one that continues to inspire and provide well being all over the world.
The architectural expression developped here is one that invites contemplation: water – shapeless and dynamic – celebrated through massive and rythmic arches. As in ancestral constructions, the arches surrounded by water, convey a sense of permanence and a symbolism that visually and physically connects the elements: water, earth and skies.
The arches are the strong yet permeable elements that surround the floating ferry terminal framing the landscape and creating and everchanging composition of shadows and perspectives that vary throughout days and seasons.
The edge of the land is marked and crafted as a place to play, gather and dream.
