The new David Zwirner gallery in Paris is located in a former sewing machine factory now under landmark preservation status because of the original steel & glass structure.
Working in collaboration with Selldorf Architects, we meticulously redesigned the exhibition spaces, upgraded the glass for increased mechanical and fire rating. As a consequence of the increased load, the steel structure was modified but in such detailed fashion that it retains its original cast iron features.
The combination of fritted glass and artificial lighting provides for an enhanced viewing experience. Separate viewing rooms and offices were given equal care for the art to be displayed in a variety of contexts.
