Located on a hilltop overlooking a bay this site presented us with a specific challenge: building a 300m² home with a swimming pool on a very steep slope. This was achieved by setting the building back into the ground but also by splitting the program over two different volumes, one facing South-East -with bedrooms- the other facing South-West with living spaces and kitchen. This allowed us to take advantage of terrain slopes wherever they made construction possible. The structural concept we opted for was meant to express the bunker-like typology of the house and pre-cast concrete roof elements allowed for column free spaces. In addition, roofs are extended beyond the vertical surface of the house to allow for better protection against glare and direct sun light.
